not your mother’s beach babe #NYMBeachBabe

Hello Everyone!

I received some sample bottles of Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe texturizing shampoo and conditioner from Influenster to try for free.

My hair is a little bit naturally wavy. I was interested to try these because I feel like my hair doesn’t usually hold any curls or extra waves that you are supposed to get from products like these. I had high hopes for what my hair might look like and tried these in the shower right away.

I love the smell of the shampoo and enjoyed how it felt in my hair in the shower. I didn’t like the smell of the conditioner as much.

My hair was a little wavy but I don’t know how much of that is from this product and how much of that is the little bit of waviness I get in my hair when I don’t use any products. I’ve used the shampoo and conditioner a few times and my hair always looks about the same. One day I didn’t comb my hair after the shower and I think it was a little bit more wavy on that day then the other days.

I would be curious to try some of the other Beach Babe products, like the Sea Salt Spray.

Have any of you tried these products?

Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

April was so busy. I barely had time to do anything extra. I feel like I keep saying that but I know things are slowing down now. I’m hoping in May I will have more time to do some things for me – like some fun crafts or adventures or something.

Today it actually feels like a nice spring day and I love it. I hope the weather stays this way.

Have a great weekend!

trying rimmel london moisture renew lipstick

I recently received an invitation to Influenster from one of my friends. It is an online community from which you can receive products to test and where people can give opinions of products and experiences and share them through social media. I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

I received my first voxbox from Influenster that had a tube of Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick to try. I’ve never tried this lipstick before and I’m not a huge lipstick wearer. I felt like the color, As You Want Victoria, seemed really bright when I first saw it. I wasn’t sure I would like it. When I tried it, it was bright but it felt great on my lips. There is tons of moisture and I didn’t feel like it instantly dried my lips out.

IMG_0793I think this color would be great for a night out. And I’m definitely going to buy another shade to try for a more everyday look. Maybe this will turn me into a lipstick wearer. I guess we will see.

What do you guys think??

I know this post is way late. Our internet has been terrible and is only getting worse. And I have been crazy busy…in that way that I know I have been busy and haven’t been home but can’t even remember what has been going on.

We are currently working on getting a new place and hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later so that maybe I can actually get some things done with working internet.

I hope you are all having a great April so far!

love locks and beer

Dan and I had another filled day yesterday. A month or two ago, we bought a livingsocial deal to visit a brewery in Portland, ME, along with a few of our friends. We planned on a day to all go together and that day was yesterday.

Dan and I went up to Portland a little early so we could visit the Love Lock bridge before meeting up with our friends. I’ve always wanted to visit the Love Lock bridge in Paris and was pretty excited when I found out there was one in Portland. I didn’t realize that there were similar bridges all over the place. We bought a lock, wrote our initials and the date in sharpie, and brought it to the bridge. There are a lot of locks on the bridge and it is really cool to see all the different kinds of locks people leave.

IMG_78341 IMG_78401 IMG_78381 After our stop at the Love Locks bridge, we walked around and went in to some shops to kill some time before we had to meet up with our friends.

IMG_78411 IMG_78421 IMG_78431The livingsocial deal was for Rising Tide Brewery. We met our friends there so we could do a tour and redeem our deal for tasting flights, a growler, 2 glasses, and $5 off merchandise.

IMG_78451I’m not a huge beer drinker but I tried 4 beers and actually liked most of them, even the stout. That is a pretty big deal.

After the beer tasting, we went to Sebago Brewing Company for lunch and it was delicious. We walked back to our car, drove to Freeport to look for a jacket for me with no luck, had some yummy Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and drove home. It was another great Saturday!

Any one else have any adventures this weekend?

ice castles in the snow…

{does anyone watch how I met your mother??? Dan was singing this the whole time we were at the ice castles….hahaha}

Here is the 2nd part of our day of adventures from last weekend, finally. This week was crazy and totally got away from me.

We went to Loon Mountain to see the ice castles. We had bought tickets ahead of time, which was good because there was a long line when we got there. I wanted to see the castles during the day and at night so we went early enough to see them before the sun went down. I managed to get a decent number of pictures without people in them. I just had to wait a few minutes for people to walk out of the way. I’m not exactly sure how they make these huge ice structures but they were so cool.

We at dinner at Woodstock Brewery and it was delicious.

When we went back to ice castles, it was so packed. There was a huge line of people waiting to get tickets with a fire dancer to entertain them. I couldn’t believe how many people there were. This made it harder to get pictures so I only took a couple of the lights. It was cool to see them lit up but it wasn’t really as impressive as I thought it would be. I’m really glad we went before they were lit up.

IMG_78131IMG_78291 IMG_78231Overall, this was a pretty fabulous day filled with winter activities.

I enjoy doing some winter activities to enjoy the season but I can tell you that I am pretty ready for this winter to be over. I don’t think I can handle much more of the snow and freezing temps. Anyone else ready for spring??

Have a great weekend!

flume gorge frozen

Last Saturday Dan and I had an adventure of a day. We got up early to take Dan’s new car in for his 30 day check at the dealer. After sitting there for sooo long {because no one came to tell us it was done…}, we made our way to McIntyre Ski Area in Manchester, NH to fit in another day of skiing before the snow goes away.

After skiing for a couple hours and grabbing some lunch at the ski area, we drove up north to check out what Flume Gorge looks like frozen. I’ve been there in the summer but never in the winter. Let me tell you – it is pretty amazing in the winter.

Many of the wooden walk ways are taken down because of all the ice but you can still walk part of the way up through the gorge. And we may or may not have passed a few stop signs to check out the sites….

IMG_77021 IMG_77191 IMG_77221 IMG_77231 IMG_77271 IMG_77281 IMG_77301 IMG_77321 IMG_77611 IMG_77041 IMG_77081 IMG_77361 IMG_77461 IMG_77501It was nice little hike to get our hearts pumping while at the same time getting some beautiful pictures.

After the Flume, we made our way to Loon Mountain Ski Area to check out the ice castles, which are also amazing. I’ll talk about those in my next post.

Hope you all have a great weekend! Dan and I are heading to NY for the weekend to see his parents. And it is supposed to be kind of warm. So yay!

Brittany{ps. I have tried posting this a couple of times this week but we are having major internet issues here at our apartment. We are looking for a new place and hopefully we won’t be having many internet issues for much longer. So sorry for the lack of posts…it is not for lack of trying}
